Energy Redress Scheme The Energy Saving Trust (EST) has been appointed by Ofgem to distribute payments from energy companies who may have breached rules. Registered charities can apply for funds to deliver energy related projects that meet the scheme priorities and benefit people in England Scotland and Wales. Building on the knowledge gained from the GB Smart Energy project in 2018, in 2020 we successfully obtained funding that create two Deaf Energy Champion roles across a two year project. Through a series of events, workshops and 121 advice sessions and the development of information videos we provided the Deaf community with information with regards to all aspects of energy efficient and awareness in BSL. This means Deaf people will have access to the same information as their hearing counterparts and are able to self-advocate, engage with energy companies more effectively, manage their home energy usage safely, effectively, efficiently and hopefully therefore having a positive impact on everyone’s overall wellbeing.
